I know this will not seem intuitive, but I will explain. Drumming is not about hitting the drum, or how you hit it, or where you hit, or how hard you hit it. Drumming is about sculpting the silence between the beats.
Sacred purpose of drumming:
to connect with spirit
to connect with community
Drumming can be an expression of your soul's rhythm. It can release stress. It can build your immune system and balance your moods. It enhances cooperation and community building.
We drum for many reasons, but the most precious to me is the relationship between the drummer and dancer -- the synergy of sight and sound -- the sound of the beats becoming visible on the dancer's body.
And we teach about all of these in every course at Drum Your Way school of drumming.
